[Blog Tour] Degradation by Stylo Fantome--Five Star Review!

TITLE: Degradation
AUTHOR: Stylo Fantome
Add to:

BLURB:

Eighteen year old Tatum O'Shea is a naive, shy, little rich girl. Twenty-three year old Jameson Kane is smart, seductive, and richer. They come together for one night, one explosion, one mistake, and Tate is hurled into space – no family, no money, and no Jameson.

Seven years later, life is going pretty good for Tate, when she runs into Jameson again. This time, she thinks she's ready for him. She doesn't have a naive bone left in her body, and she can't even remember what shy feels like. Jameson has evolved into Satan – sharp teeth, sharper claws, and a tongue that can cut her in half. It all sounds like fun to a girl like Tate, and she is ready to play, determined to prove that she isn't the same girl he conquered once before. A series of games start, each one more devious than the last.

But the devil likes to play dirty, and she learns that playing for souls is playing for keeps. The lines between games and reality, heaven and hell, get blurry. Can she beat Jameson at his own game before someone gets hurt? Or will he leave her soulless, making him the winner, once and for all?

WARNING: contains a wannabe B-rate porn star, an impersonal personal assistant, and the F-word, A LOT. Also graphic sexual situations and sadomasochistic themes. 96,000 words.

When Stylo emailed me and asked me if I’d be able to read and review her debut novel, I thought to myself “yeah, sure….when I get around to it.” I was in the middle of two other books I was reading for the blog, and I was crazy busy at work. Nonetheless I agreed to read and review it as soon as I got around to it. But first I had to see if it was gonna catch my interest. I had to see if it would be worth it. So I started it. For me, I can usually tell in the first three chapters if I’m going to end up liking the book or not. It only took me three pages to get sucked into Degradation.

So yeah…if that doesn’t say something about how freaking amazing this book is, I’m not really sure what will.

I’m kinda scared to talk about what actually goes on in the book. I don’t want to ruin the experience of getting to know Tate and Jameson for anyone. But what kind of review would this be if I didn’t talk about the book?

Soo….

Tatum O’Shea is…well…put simply…a badass. Growing up doing what she was told, when she was told, how she was told and never getting any recognition, Tate’s feeling a little frustrated with her life. One night, a few drinks, Jameson Kane, a huge mistake, and everything changes. Seven years later finds Tate working as a bartender when she’s not working random temp jobs, no Harvard degree, and couponing with Angier, her best friend, just to get by. Needless to say, Tate is no longer the perfect little girl she used to be. When one of her temp jobs brings her face to face with her past, with the Devil, will she run and hide? Or will she put on her big girl panties and play the Devil’s games?

Who are we kidding…its Tatum O’Shea, sweetheart turned badass. Of course she’s gonna play, and probably without panties.

Jameson Kane AKA Satan AKA the Devil AKA Lucifer AKA anything that has to do with the devil, while he’d never admit it out loud, hasn’t been able to get Tate out of his head for the last seven years. Kane is a man who knows what he wants, and when he see’s Tate serving drinks and food to his colleagues, he knows he wants her.

OH OH OH! And Sanders! Who is Sanders you ask?? Only the BEST character in the whole damned book! But you’ll have to read it to find out why!

I’m so glad that I took a chance on this book! This book is by far one of my favorite releases of 2014, and I can’t wait to start seeing this book get the recognition it deserves.

I know this isn’t the first book you’ve ever written, but it is the first you’ve published, and a SERIOUS congratulations is in order. This was seriously a fan-fucking-tastical read that had me holding my breath, tossing my kindle, stalking an author, and laughing my ass off. Thank you Stylo for reaching out to me and introducing me to Jameson Kane.

EXCERPTS/QUOTES:

“You started these games,” Jameson reminded her. Tate hiked up her dress a little and

lifted her knee to his desk.

“I didn't realize they'd go on for this long,” she replied, lifting her other knee. She bent

forward and crawled across the desk towards him. He didn't move.

“They're going to go on for a lot longer,” he warned her. She reached out, putting her

hand on his knee.

“For how long?” she asked as she slid her hand up his thigh, moving as slow as possible.

“However long it takes you to realize who the winner will always be.”

“Oh, you're done. Time for good girls to go upstairs and show me how bad they can be,”

Jameson told her.

“I don't think there's very much that's good about me anymore,” Tate laughed.

“I think you have no idea what bad really is.”

“There will never be a ring from Harry Winston. I will never ask you to marry me. I don't

want those things, I never did. I like to have fun, I like to fuck. I don't want to put stars in your

eyes. I'm not that guy. I'm the devil, and I don't have any plans to change.” - Jameson

“If you want to run, I suggest you do it now,” Jameson told her.

“Why?” Tate asked, and he leaned in close.

“Because I eat girls like you for breakfast,” he hissed in her ear.

She smiled and slipped to her knees in front of him.

This, she could do. This, she was very good at.

Love, however, was a completely different story.

“What do you want, Kane?” Tate asked in a low voice. Jameson dragged his eyes away

from her tits and stared her in the eye.

“Call me that name again, and I will punish your mouth,” he warned her. She chuckled.

“Don't make promises you won't keep.”

“Your life story is much shittier than mine,” Jameson told her. She glared at him.

“But probably a lot funner,” Tate countered.

“I highly doubt that. Have you ever had sex with a supermodel while sailing through the

mediterranean on your 250 foot yacht?” he asked. She thought for a second.

“No. I gave a handjob in an Arby's bathroom once, though. Kinda like the same thing,”

she told him with a bright smile.

“I stand corrected. Your life leaves me in awe.”

Tate sat forward, arching her neck to look up at Jameson. He stared straight back at her,

the fire casting shadows on one side of his face, and burning up the other side.

He looks like Satan.

She felt his teeth against her skin, fangs to her jugular, claws to her heart. He bit down,

once. Twice. A third time, so hard, she thought he was going to take out a piece of her.

He already did that, a long time ago, baby girl.

“I have the strangest feelings about you. Like I want to take you everywhere and have you

by my side, but I also want to hold you down. Make you beg and and cry,” Jameson told her.

Tate kept her eyes focused on his, didn't move a muscle.

“Sounds like a pretty good plan to me,” she whispered.

She felt her temperature soar through the roof. Jameson had an uncanny gift that made it

impossible for Tate to be truly mad at him – the angrier she got, the more she just wanted to

have sex with him. He was blessed that way. Or rather, she was cursed.

“I'm not going to fuck you. That would be giving you a treat. You've been very bad. I'm

going to do whatever I want.” - Jameson

“Why do you like to push me?” Jameson groaned, lifting her hair so he could bite at the

back of her neck.

“Because I like it when you push back,” Tate whispered.

We are a match made in Hell. He may be Satan, but I'm Lillith. - Tate

The whole time, he raked his nails down a path on her back. Peeling away a layer of skin,

exposing a piece of her soul. Stealing it from her. Or just taking it back.

Houston, we have a problem.

Jameson watched her sleep for a while, his eyes wandering down the angry scratch

marks on her back, over the bruises on the side of her neck. She let him do so many things to

her. Eventually, Tate would want something in return, and that thought scared him.

“Men are retarded assholes. You make a bad jokeand he looks at my tits, and it's one-

plus-one equals whore,” Tate explained, and Jameson finally laughed.

“I wish I had gone to that school.”

This was her comfort zone. Tate felt like if Jameson was nice to her, if he was sweet

to her, she would forget what was really going on, forget her place in the grand scheme of

things. And he was Satan, after all. He would make sure to put her back in her place. That

would be real pain, and she couldn't handle that, not from him. Not again.

I'm losing this game.

All she could focus on was Jameson's hand. His strong fingers, linked through hers. She

squeezed his hand, so hard it hurt. So hard, she wouldn't be able to let go, not ever again.

Why did everything feel so different?

Because everything is different.

“Do you think there's something wrong with me, treating you the way I do?”

“Not necessarily. It's consensual. Empowering.”

“Empowering?”

“Yes. You have the power to hold me down, say things, call me names. But I have the

power to say stop. End it all. Your power is an illusion. Mine is real.”

Speaking nice to her, that was too much. Saying sweet things, even in the fucked up way

they had, was more than Tate could handle. She hadn't wanted to care about this man. Not at

all. She had wanted to play with him. Turned out, he was much better at the game.

“I don't want a nice, normal girl. I want a girl who likes to be knocked down and dragged

around. A girl who will let me smack her around and talk dirty to her. I want a girl who will let

me sleep with other girls, and then get so turned on by that fact, she'll blow me while we're

driving down a highway doing seventy-five,” Jameson snapped.

True story.

“Sounds like a pretty hot girl,” Tate commented.

“Hottest girl I know.”

This. More than anything, Tate wanted to remember Jameson like this; she loved his

biting words and his stinging hand, but his kiss. His kiss gave her hope.

AUTHOR BIO:

Indie author, writing anything that pops into my head ... which happens to usually be kinda crazy and a lot dirty. Working out of an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up

★5 Star Review & Giveaway!★ A Firefighter's Flame by Dani Hart

FF_Facebook_BlogTourBanner_02A FAN PAGES\cooltext1348847950
If you dig into the deepest parts of your soul, what would you find? Happiness, pain, love, regret, peace, sorrow? Now imagine experiencing all those feelings at once and then nothing at all. These were the average days in the life of Lennox. An unhealthy and unstable mind is further challenged when fate intervenes. One tragic moment will test her wavering strength and leave a permanent scar on her conscience. Follow her journey of rediscovery, falling in love, and searching for her own fairy-tale ending.

Our Review

After readintg Harts book 'Reality' a few months back, his book wasn't at all what I was expecting! But it was amazing none the less! Taking on a completely different genre of book doesn't always work for authors. Typically it's a "stick with what you know" kinda thing. Not with Hart.

I loved this book and the crazy emotional journey it took me on.

This book takes you through Lennox's life. Although this is a fictional story, it touches on some very real life struggles that people face everyday.

While I can't sympathize with the mental struggles Lennox deals with, while reading this book I felt like I could. Danni Hart does an exceptional job making you feel as if you are there. In the book. Struggling, loving, and surviving alongside Lennox.

I'm not one for spoiler filled reviews so I won't touch on what goes on in this book. Just know that while it was an emotionally gripping story, it was a breath of fresh air. It's not everyday you come across a book, or an author, who flawlessly weaves a story with such real situations without insensitive to them.

Absolutely loved this story, and definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for something a little different :)

Prologue
There was a time in my life when the light within me shined so brightly. At some point I lost it. I lost me. Life used to course through my veins like an out of control wildfire, unstoppable and infectious. Time was supposed to heal, but all it did was slowly strip me down to an empty vessel void of passion, desire, and drive. I wanted to scream, “Be the one to save me,” but my soul was drained, my heart was shattered, and time had siphoned the life out of me.

★Blog Tour Stop + 5 Star Review!★ Throttle Me by Chelle Bliss

Throttle Me by Chelle Bliss Blog Tour Stop

Men of Inked Series Book #1

SYNOPSIS:
Suzy’s a control freak and has her life mapped out - work hard, find a man with a stable job, and live happily ever after. She’s content with the status quo, but her plan comes to a screeching halt when he enters her life and turns it upside down.

City gave up on love when his heart was crushed in college, preferring to be the typical bachelor. He spends his nights hopping from one bed to another and his days working at his family tattoo shop, Inked. A chance encounter on a dark road makes him question what he had sworn off forever – a relationship.

A night of passion and lust causes them to question everything. Is City the knight in shining armor to the damsel in distress? Can their relationship survive when a fantasy falls apart and a secret comes out that changes everything?

Taylor's Review
Well, well, well! Look what we have here! A solid Five Star Review :)

What do you do when everything you always thought you wanted changes? When the perfect checklist you have set up for the type of life you want to have, gets completely tossed out the window? Or in the case of Throttle Me, off the back of a bike?

Suzy has had her entire life planned out since...well since forever. Every aspect of her life has a checklist, from her career, to the perfect man, to the perfect house with the white picket fence, and her 2.5 children. They're all very well drawn up, no-nonsense, hard lined, checklists. Checklist's she's determined to stick to no matter what. While a man like Joseph "City" Gallo wouldn't even be a blip on her radar, he's determined to take her checklists and rip them all to pieces.

City is just a normal guy. He's been through some tough stuff, with the loss of the only woman he ever loved, he finds it hard to open up to just anyone. But Suzy isn't just anyone. Not to City. When City finds her stranded on the side of the road alone and in the dark, he offers a helping hand, not knowing that the ride Suzy was going to take him on, would require holding on with both hands.

City see's something in Suzy. Something innocent, and pure, and something rare he doesn't see in any of the bimbos hes been known to hang around. He see's something real. Little does he know, that Suzy isn't as innocent and pure as he thinks she is. While she may not drink or curse, the thoughts running rampant through her mind are anything but innocent.

Throttle Me, wasn't at all what I was expecting it to be. It was better! It far exceeded my very minimal expectations. When I review books for blog tours/honest review, I never read the synopsis, or reviews on the book. I don't set the bar too high, I keep my expectations low, because I have no idea what to expect. I like to be surprised, and Bliss did that for me in this book, and then some.

I won't lie and say I didn't cast judgement on this book based on the title alone. Because I did. "Throttle Me." I just figured it'd be another bad attempt at copying something so few have been able to master. I honestly thought I was going to be reading an MC novel based on the title alone. Let me just say, I'm so freaking glad I didn't let those judgement's keep me from reading this book. This is NOT an MC book, City just rides a motor cycle and hangs out in biker bars. He's tatted up and sexy as sin, but he's not part of an MC :)

Anywhoo! I was pleasantly surprised with Throttle Me. I loved it! I loved that City was definitely a little on the Alpha side, and although he pushed Suzy, he was also willing to compromise with her, instead of just demand that she do everything he says. I also loved that Suzy wasn't the typical girl you find in most romance novels these days. She was hard headed and stubborn, and she had a backbone! GOD I can't tell you how refreshing it is to have a heroine actually be able to stand her ground.

I fell in love with this book. I fell in love with not only Suzy and City, but the secondary characters too! Sophia was absolutely hilarious! She's the type of best friend every girl should have, and Kayden is the type of brother figure I wish I had growing up: protective yet still willing to give me my space to be a grown up and make my own choices.

This book was written in dual perspective and I have to say I AM SO GLAD that it was. I typically hate the bouncing around and back and forth between two character POV's. But being able to get City's input on this whole story, was an awesome added bonus. I'm glad it was part of the book, because I would have done everything short of kidnapping Chelle and making her write this novel in City's perspective.

This book has everything. A sexy as hell alpha male, a strong female lead, some amazing secondary characters, a lot of laughs, a little bit of drama, and of course, some very swoon worthy moments!

Chelle Bliss has me hooked, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

“Do you swear?” I asked as she set the glass back on the bar.
“What?” She gaped at me.
“Do you swear? Simple question. You’ve said ‘heck’ and ‘friggin’’ so far, but nothing dirty.”
“Oh, um, yeah, I swear.” Her cheeks turned pink and a small smile spread across her face. “I’m just used to watching my words with the kids around all day.”
“Prove it,” I said as I stared in her blue sapphire eyes.
“What? Why?”
“Cause I need to know if it’s in you. Are you all good girl or is there more under there dying to come out?” I hid the smile and laughter that was so close to breaking free from my lips. The pink of her cheeks spread across her face. I know I embarrassed her, but fuck, I needed to know if I stood a chance.
“Yes, I swear. What do you think I am? I’m not a child, City.” She glared at me as she raised the drink to her lips and wrapped them around the rim. Fuck I wanted those lips wrapped around my shaft, taking me deep and sucking me off.
“Never said you were, babe. Do you drink besides tonight?” I asked, now smiling because I knew she was upset. I liked the fire I saw in her eyes when I pointed out her good girl qualities – she obviously didn’t like being labeled.
“Sometimes. I’m just responsible. I don’t drink and drive. My dad used to be a cop and it was drilled into my head at an early age.” The words she spoke hit me like a ton of bricks. Drunk driving was the one thing in the world that caused my blood to boil.
Good girl teacher with a cop father? Just my luck. “Nothin’ wrong with that. Virgin daiquiris aren’t always your thing, then?”
“Why? Do I have to be a drinker? I mean does it make me less of an adult?”
“No, Suzy. Just trying to get a feel for who you are – what you are.”
